Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling

5/5stars

Harry Potter,an orphan who lived with his aunt and family certainly was treated like a dog.Until the age of 11,he always thought that he was a normal orphan who lived with his mother's sister Petunia Dursley, his uncle Veron Dursley and his cousin Dudley. But soon after a letter arrived addressed to Harry,he found out that he-Harry Potter, was a wizard. In addition to it,his parents made him famous by dying in the hands of an evil sorcerer named Voldermort.Hagrid,a giant man who was expelled from Hogwarts but worked as the gamekeeper helped him to get everything he needed.Soon Harry started a fresh year in Hogwarts, school of Wizardry and Witchcraft.Along with his friends Ronald Weasely and Hermione Granger,Harry faces an adventure in his first year of Hogwarts.

The plot of this book is saving a Philosophers Stone.Harry and his friends accidentally heard Snape talking to Professor Quentin(Another teacher who taught Defense Against Dark Arts) about stealing something. Also when Harry had gone to the Wizard Bank(Gringots) with Hagrid,he had something to hide and return to Hogwarts. After overhearing and some research, they finally understood everything.Apparently someone was going to steal a Philosophers Stone, which had been given to Professor Dumbledore by his friend Nicholas Flame, for safe-keeping.And they suspected Snape. Now Harry,Ron and Hermione have to find a way to prevent the robbery.

A world of magic isn't so simple to survive in.In this book,Harry has to face his rival Draco Malfoy, the teacher who hates him- Professor Severus Snape and not to forget,Voldermort.

This book basically deals with magic.Using wands and segregation between Wizards and Muggles(Non-magic people) might have angered a few people, which is common. But to me,without that segregation, the book would have lost one of its charms.

Personally,I regarded this book as my favorite until a few years back. This splendid book really does deserve the 5 stars I've awarded
